| Tarina Hall noted that Von Von der Mehden and Gary Lucas both have rehabilitated enough to not have to were their cumbersome neck braces. But, alas, Ruth Lincoln had a traffic accident last Wednesday and is back to work with a, you guessed it, neck brace. |
President David wanted us all to know how very easy it is to be a Bulletin Reporter. As many of you can attest, it’s also a lot of fun to be the official club scribe for a day. Just imagine the creative license that you get………hey I get major creative license with my camera, especially if you’re unfortunate enough to walk in front of me when I am taking a photograph! –Ed J

Program: Membership: It’s everyone’s responsibility!
Gail Johnson, our Co-chairperson of the Membership Committee with
Diane Winsby, introduced Chris
Parr-Feldman, our District 5130 Membership Chairperson and
Maureen Merrill, District 5130 Chair of
Institute for Leadership. They did a tag team review of Rotarian membership
basics.
They defined who is a prospective Rotarian: someone who is independent, of good moral fiber, in control of their time and able to commit to Rotary’s financial and service responsibilities. As to how we define Rotary, there are many definitions, including giving back to the community, members who are leaders, improving the quality of our communities and living the fellowship opportunities of Rotary.
What keeps us in Rotary? Fellowship and giving back to our communities and there are many other reasons as individual as Rotarians themselves.
Did you know that only 20% of the typical Rotary club members actually
bring in new members? This led to a group exercise in team building: each
table determined who was an Inviter? Who was a Manager? Who was an Orienter?
And who were Mentors? The point was that we are all a part of the team and
together we can bring in new members. With a show of hands, Maureen
was able to determine for us that we could get ten new members in our club
BEFORE the October visioning process. What a way to go!
