Announcements & Such
Now Playing - you can view a 15 second promotion for the Rotary Clubs of Sonoma County at your local movie theaters. Don’t spill your popcorn or you’ll miss it.
President Susan asked all of us to be on the lookout for more GSE team members interested in going to Punjab India. For more information visit District 5130 website to see who is already on the team.
| Jim Hinton provided the following break down of The Good, The Crab and The Ugly. He pointed out that we still have some money to collect but most expenses are in. We also hope to reconcile the difference between paid guests and the number served which will boost our net income. If anyone brought guests and they have yet to pay for the good time they had, please forward Jim their thanks and a check for $60 each. |

Bob Zeni brought Piner High School graduating seniors Kasey Schalich and Ryan Ferrell to the podium so we could learn about their hopes for the future and perhaps be assisted by the academic scholarship SRWRC provides each year.

Fred Zmarzly enjoyed pouring 12 bottles of his Double Gold winning 2006 Albertina Cabernet at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition a few weeks back. It was his Olympic moment. (And for a moment, let’s stop to appreciate with Fred, all of that toiling up on the mountain that produced….what? A DOUBLE GOLD AWARD MEDAL!!!! And what does it take to get a Double Gold? Well of course, you first have to show up with a great wine! But here’s where it gets tough; because not only must that wine define the varietal character in a manner rarely encountered, but all of the judges on the panel of 5 must unanimously give that wine a Gold medal. Bravo Fred! Ed-)
Raffle:
Ralph Lassa drew blue for the chance to win it big. Sorry Ralph!
Jim Sullivan got to take home a bottle of highly sought after Rotary
wine.
Program: Generation Xers to Millennials
Kay Schultz,
Superintendent of Mark West School District, provided a Powerpoint
presentation explaining how different generations respond and view the world
in hopes of enlightening business owners to a better way to manage their
varied ideals in today’s workforce.
There is some cross over between generations, which will explain Born times below.
Baby Boomers: Born after WWII. Children of the greatest generation. Getting ready to retire so leave us alone and let the following generations take care of us.
Generation X: Born 1961-1981. Grew up with video games, PC’s, CD’s and email also known as the "Me" generation.
Millennials: Born in the late 70’s – 90’s. Grew up with the Web, cell phones, MP3s (replaced albums for those of us who don’t know) and using social networks.
Homelanders: Born after Sept. 11, 2001. The jury is still out here.
In short, the younger you are the more impatient you are and want immediate feedback and rewards for doing your work. If you want to manage a millennial make sure you praise and coddle them so they don’t get their feelings hurt. Good luck to all of us.
