President's Announcements:

Barcelona has very friendly pickpockets. Michael knows this because he reached for his wallet and realized that he had company in that pocket. Apparently, Barcelona is for those travelers who are very wary or very lonely.

Printed bulletins were available for the digitally challenged (not to be confused with the fingers of the guy who had his hands in Mike's pocket after Mike was through with him).

Doug Dilley Doug Dilley paid $10 to turn in his rusty old red badge in for a new shiny blue one. Congratulations Doug!!
Our President Elect, Lou Capuano, accepted Mike's handouts relative to securing Lou's hotel reservations in Brisbane (pronounce it without the 'e'), Australia next year for the Rotary International event. President Elect, Lou Capuano

Announcements:

Gary Lucas Gary Lucas informed the membership that the theme for the Crab Feed will be the 'Roaring Twenties' in honor of our twenty years in existence as the best Rotary Club ever (even if we're not the most modest club).

Craft Talk:

Bryan Fikes Bryan Fikes's career has been all over the map, literally. He grew up around here (Sebastopol), played sports in high school and at SRJC (mainly football), went to college in South Dakota (only one there from California), became a snow ski instructor (somewhere where there was snow), became a DJ at college and at the local station there (he is a smooth talker).
Bryan became a successful bartender in Arizona (he is a smooth talker), got interested in sales at a car dealership in Arizona, transferred back to Sonoma County (homesick), worked for the Hansel Group, Fox radio, and now finds himself in charge of Alladin Bail Bonds for Sonoma, Mendocino, Lake and Solano counties (did I mention that he is a smooth talker?) All in all, a very informative and entertaining craft talk. Nice going, Bryan!

Recognition:

Dale Sikes was fined $15 for flying first class to Matzatlan on American West Airlines. We were informed that first class gets you three kinds of peanuts and crummy food. Probably why he got off so light. President Mike felt sorry for him.

Dale Sikes

Ken Kushnir Ken Kushnir, who dined with former member Josef at Josef's restaurant after (but not as a part of) the regular board meeting at the same restaurant, happened upon some Rotary Director pins that President Mike had somehow misplaced. That, as it turned out, cost President Mike $20 apiece for two pins and maybe some immunity for Ken in the future (Sure).

Jim Sullivan coughed up $25 for wine tasting in Australia (that's about what it would have cost him if he had gone to Napa instead). Sounds like he had a petty good time. Jim Sullivan

Miscellaneous:

President Mike raffled eleven tickets to the Sonoma County Fair to the highest bidder that turned out to be Ron Allen with $30 that was put to good use.

Caroline Fox put in a request for volunteers to help with Pete LaMonica's party for seventy-five on July 21. If you can help, call Caroline at 535-0944.

Raffle:

Janet Codding wasn't able to pick the black marble but Chuck Stark leaped for the wine on behalf of his father, Tony, who had the winning ticket.

Program:

Jason Hillyer Jason Hillyer, Director of Education for the Schultz Museum showed us some slides of the almost completed museum on West Steele Lane next to the ice arena and gave us some inside information on the programs he is developing for the public. The grand opening will be on August 17 and he encouraged us to sign on as Charter Members. If you're interested in being a docent or other volunteer, he can arrange that as well. The museum will display mostly original work by 'Sparky'.
