Announcements:

Janet Codding announced the new member party at Ginny Pitt's place on July 5 at 4 o'clock. Bring yourself, significant other, food to share and your favorite beverage. If it's hot, bring your swimsuit.

Recognition:

Gary Lucas was fined by Past President Brian for throwing Past President Brian into the pool at the Wikiup Swim and Tennis Club last Sunday at the debunking. (Anyone who saw this lightening move on Gary's part had to be thinkin' Middle Linebacker blitz up the middle....Brian was engulfed and wet before he could blink...or that's the way this side-liner saw it -Ed J) Little did Gary know that Brian would be in charge of fines today.

John Meislahn also got caught in the line of fire for doing such a good job of presenting 'The Life of Brian' at the debunking. John presented a narrated slide show with some great photos from the family album, which Brian may have forgotten existed. (For what he had to work with, and the prep time he had to do it, "good job" doesn't begin to cover it. It's been a good while since we have had such an excellent one-man-show performance, dare I say it? Not since the days of the Legendary Jeff Marcus. OUTSTANDING JOB JOHN! -Ed) John Meislahn

The people responsible for putting on the debunking, Chuck Stark, Ginny Pitts, Pete Lamonica and others were praised by PP Brian for a great event and he thanked those who attended.

And just before we go to the raffle, your aging and crotchety Editor is going to Editorialize a bit. Last night we had a wonderful time at the New Member Social hosted by our own Queen of the Harvest Moon Ranch, Ginny Pitts. What an evening, what a party, what fun, and speaking of new members…………WHERE WERE YOU!!!! Yeah, I count (via Secretary Fred's roster) about 17 or so of our members who fall into the category of "new member under 2 years" and I only counted 2 of those new members in attendance at Ginny's welcoming party. Membership Sponsors! Don't forget that no matter how long a member is in our club, if you sponsored that member, you are still their sponsor. Be a good Rotarian and help them to be successful in showing up at the events or meetings they are expected to attend, especially if the event is in their honor. Fellowship begins at meetings, but long-term Rotary members count their social gatherings with fellow members, amongst the real reasons that they remain in Rotary. When one of our members steps up and offers their home or business as a place for Rotary fellowship, we should show our appreciation by attending, even if you can only drop by for a little while. We certainly can't make all of the events or meetings during the year, that's a given, but there are some expectations of new members that I for one don't see happening. OK, that's my 5 cents and you have to listen 'cus I am still the Editor J

Raffle:

Carl Vallejos
Carl Vallejos did not pick the "whatever color it is, that isn't it" marble.

Program:

Randy Poole Randy Poole of the Sonoma County Water Agency was our featured event. We were given the lowdown on the current (no pun intended) status of our local water supplies. Randy also talked about the conflicts, politics and potential costs of water regulations and the Endangered Species Act. The Water Agency is contending with the Salmon and Steelhead populations in the Russian River, the local, state and federal regulations (and their conflicts), flood control versus reestablishing habitat for fisheries, funding and lack thereof, California ballot measure in November, fish ladders, etc.

Randy was also patient enough to answer a bunch of questions from an attentive audience.
