Vesting Rotarians

President Mike introduced visiting Rotarians himself...in his usual inimitable way.

 

Bob Marigo introduced our former member, Ed Burr. (Any relation to Aaron Burr?)

Almost President Louis Capuano was called upon by Lame Duck Mike. Louis is back from Australia and the Rotary International Conference. He stated that 22,000 Rotarians were present, of which about 18,000 were lawyers (Louis’ estimate). The Prime Minister of Queensland was a speaker as well as a mayor or two. Louis talked about other various speakers that were present Almost President Louis Capuano

Louis also announced some meetings pertaining to his upcoming year. He is planning several preliminary Board meetings. Members of Louis’ Board of Directors should contact him for information.

 

Jeff Ray Jeff Ray announced the Snoopy Ice Show, Tuesday December 11. Tickets are $27 each. You must pay in advance for each ticket.

 

The seventh annual Golf event will be Friday August 8, 2 PM at Bennett Valley Golf Course. Tickets are $45 for the entire event. There is no billing the club....Send a check. The Barbeque, following the golf, will be at Galvin Park.

Questions should be directed to Jeff for the above events.

Gail Johnson Gail Johnson announced that her exchange student is soon to depart. She is having a gathering at her home on July 8th 5:30 PM for the farewell to her student. Contact her for details if you’d like to attend....she would like you to be there.

 

Past President Brian Herndon, this year’s Debunking Party Chair announced the signup sheet for the debunking is on each table. He needs to know how many will attend so that the proper amount of food can be ordered. The debunking is July 13th at the Wikiup Swim Club. Past President Brian Herndon

Brian mentioned that $10,000 would be added to the Community Fund. Louis mentioned that he would have liked the money to be available for his year!

Steve Wright obtained his Blue Badge, for a paltry $10. Steve Wright

 

Jack Bill Jack Bill also obtained his Blue Badge, also for an additional paltry $10.

 

Mike announced that a 5-member team is to be sponsored for a trip to San Paulo Brazil. Interviews for team leader are July 9th, selection by July 25th. If you’re interested....

Jerry Arnold: Birthday, on June 18th. Jerry says she’s not celebrating birthdays anymore. $25.

 

 

 

Caroline Fox Caroline Fox: Birthday, June 13th. She stated that she didn’t want to talk about part of her celebrating....But she had a great time. Caroline stated that her anniversaries (Marriage and Club anniversaries) were missed by Lame Duck Mike. Fred Z stated that he keeps Club Anniversary data also. Caroline elaborated a bit more about her birthday, which led to her getting hit for $50.

 

Gil Lucas Gil Lucas: Birthday, June 15th. He went to the “City” with the family, and not on the Harley....This was his 50th birthday. They did a bunch of nifty things for his birthday. This all because he won’t turn 50 again. $50.

 

Rich Pratt Rich Pratt: June 20th will be Rich’s birthday. He did not mention his age. Rich stated that his 60th birthday was better than his 50th. President Mike prodded on the birthday and discovered that this will be Rich’s 62nd birthday. $10 (that’s all he had in his wallet).

 

Past District Governor Mike Merrill Past District Governor Mike Merrill: He took a few extra days in Australia. He had a great time and has a lot of photos of Louis having fun at the parties. After a bit of sparring with Pres Mike, he was welcomed back… $25.

 

Next it was Bob Marigo’s turn:

Bob: “I didn’t do anything”

Mike: “What happens on the 25sth this month Bob?”

Bob: “She turns 65 this month, this will save $100 a month! SHE’LL BE ON MEDICARE!!!” (Squeak!!!)

Mike: “How much do you want to pay?”

Bob: “$100 to the Foundation”

Paula Wrenn announced that Susan Nowacki would be doing speakers next year. Any suggestions for speakers should go to Susan. (Yes! Book ‘em early & book ‘em often! –Ed J) Paula Wrenn

Program:

K.I.D.S of Sonoma County

K.I.D.S of Sonoma County is an organization that seeks to assist children who are part of families that have no health insurance. KIDS = Kids, Insurance, Doctors and Solutions).

 

Nancy Brown Nancy Brown introduced a video that described the program. In essence the Children’s’ Health Network, the organization’s former name, helped children get medical care that would not otherwise be available to them. There are over 200 physicians in Sonoma County that participate in the program. All of the physicians volunteer their time and skills.

 

The mission statement: K.I.D.S of Sonoma County provides the children of Sonoma County with opportunities to maintain and improve their health. Working in conjunction with the Sonoma County Medical Association and the Redwood Empire Dental Society we coordinate access to donated health care for the uninsured and underserved....
