Gail Johnson: She is involved with the youth exchange. A young lady is coming to Santa Rosa from France. Gail is looking for people who will host her while she is here; Gail needs volunteers. The commitment is for three-month periods. The volunteer does not have to be a Rotarian. Contact Gail at 535-8797.

Anne Abrams Anne Abrams is looking for an official count for the Open House at the Child Development Center. This ought to be a fun event. See you there April 10th. 5 PM.

Fortuna is the location of the District Conference. President Mike stated that he could not think of a better place to spend a weekend. He urges everyone to attend. Have a blast!!

Ken Dansie is going to be the treasurer for the District during DG Elect Norm Owen's term, next year.

Fred Zmarzly, the lame duck Secretary was introduced. Fred informed us that those who attended the District Assembly in Ukiah will not be getting a refund check. Instead, the attendees will get a credit on their Club Dues. Fred Zmarzly

Bill Dodson: Bill is looking for volunteers to handle Club Service duties for the remainder of the year. The duties include the usual: bulletin writing, raffle ticket sales, etc. Next week he'll have the signup sheet for next year.

President Mike recognized Dave Wattell, who served as cashier today. Dave mentioned that he is now doing contract work reviewing loan files for various banks. He also has a three-day a week job in the tasting room at Kunde Winery. Dave mentioned that his daughter is headed off to UC Davis... She's gonna be an Aggie!!! (Amazing what small things like this do to our former secretary Harris J  -Ed ) Fine $25.

Back to Lisa G: Since she's had no contributions, President Mike decided to perform an inquiry. Now she has a great back equipped with titanium pins and screws. Lisa recounted several of her difficulties. Fine: $50, since President Mike isn't sure when he'll see her again!

Birthdays were recognized in random succession. Each one was hit for $5.

Jeff Ray (who was one of the Birthday people) stated that there would be a golf tournament this year. To Be Announced. Jeff Ray

Von Der Mehden: President Mike compared Henry (Von) to Dale Sipe, in terms of difficulty in extracting information. Henry's daughter, Heidi, is an official taster for a wine competition. Heidi enjoyed the wine tasting experience. This cost Henry $5.

(Actually, Heidi was an official taster in the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Tasting Competition that took place in Cloverdale on January 28, 29, & 30. She was in some pretty high falutin’ company, which bespeaks her own expertise in her position as enologist for Kenwood Winery. Check out the tasting results. -Ed)

Jack Bill: Looking very dapper, Jack stated that he has not had a birthday (contrary to Fred’s records). His birthday is the 16th, not the 6th. President Mike wished Jack a Happy Pertnear Birthday....$5.

Back to Jack Bill, President Mike announced that Jack has not been fined this year and wanted to know if Jack does anything. Jack said that he had lunch in Healdsburg last week; and the week before he went to Safeway. Jack took a trip to Louisville last fall...Mike had missed it; he suggested that Jack sit with Dale Sipe! President Mike challenged Jack to do something exciting between now and the end of his term....$20.

Doug Dilley: Bill Dodson recognized Doug's work in Club Service doing the set-ups for the meetings. Doug talked about a yellow lab (dog) that he acquired for his son. The dog has chewed up several of his yellow garden hoses. Doug related other calamities that have occurred with the dog. Ken Kushnir suggested that Doug should leave some yellow extension cords about in the backyard; that would likely help with the hose chewing! $25. Rich Pratt felt so sorry for Doug that he paid $5 of the fine!

Board meeting will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, April 8th. Usual place..(By the time you’ve read this it won’t matter)

No hits on the Marble.

Guest Speaker

Michael Randolph, CFP, of Randolph Managed Investments was our speaker today. Paula Wrenn introduced him.

Mike talked about institutional investors, individual investors, investment timing and managing risk. He also discussed market timing.

He didn't make any beneficial recommendations, other than finding a good lumber mine to invest in.
