Charter President Bill Fisher was quoted as saying he was "rudely interrupted from his meal to have the meeting start so early." Charter President Bill Fisher

Rotary Moment: Ginny Pitts
Ginny Pitts gave us a nice quote by Longfellow that said on man should be at peace with others.

Visiting Rotarians:

Susan Nowacki introduced various local and two non-local-England and New York fellow Rotarians. Susan Nowacki

Bill Gittins Bill Gittins was then called to the podium to announce that the nomination for Club President is Chris Parr for the 2005-2006 year. There were all ayes for Chris.

We then took a vote to solidify the members of Louie's board for 2003-2004. Those being:

Bill Dodson - Director of Club Service,
Dave McDonald - Director of Community Service,
Chris Rosell - Director of International Service,
Geri Arnold -Director of Vocational Service
Bob Marigo - SOS; Do I hear a hip, hip hurray?
David Wattell - will assume Membership Chair duties,
John Meislahn becomes "party man", i.e. Fellowship Chair
Susan Nowacki replacing Cloverdale's finest, Paula Wrenn, as Program Director.
Jim Valinoti - Bulletin Editor

Ayes were once again prevalent.

Visitors:

The club had our speaker's wife, Sherry Hurd, and Gail Johnson introduced Jaffa again.

Jerri Arnold announced she needs non-Rotarians to judge the student communicators contest at the March 31st meeting.

President Mike President Mike told us the Sebastopol club is challenging us to their event on May 17th - "Guys can cook, too". He asked if someone might represent our club with a special dish....How about Louie's famous Gumbo?

March 17th we are DARK during the day. For you newer members, that means we do not have a regularly scheduled meeting during that time. BUT in the evening we will meet at Los Robles for a St. Patty Day feast, spouses welcome. $20 a person, pay at the door.

District Assembly is coming up on March 15th. It is not too late to sign up.

Bob Marigo? Well some things never change....
Bob Marigo

Clarice Bolles from the downtown club was present again this week after winning the raffle last week. We had no money for her, and President Mike told her it was a mistake that she even won. Regardless, she bought more raffle tickets and says we are now her favorite make-up club. (Great! Why doesn't some enterprising member sell her a year's worth of raffle tickets in advance……or at least enough to match her winnings! - Ed J)

Recognition:

Ginny Pitts was asked to stand up and then walk around a bit so we could all see her outfit her husband, Bob, bought for her in Paris. But we found out the trip was 2 years ago. She is going to Chicago this month, but that doesn't warrant a fine. As a bleeding heart, she still gave $5. Ginny Pitts

Chuck Baker Chuck Baker was seen at lunch after being gone for a month! It seems he rented a house on Hawaii near Hilo with his wife and had many people come and go. He traveled the island, but enjoyed sitting on the veranda drinking Mai Tai's the most. $20 for this 4-week indulgence.

Ken Davenport Ken Davenport was also seen on Monday. He was trying to avoid the 20 feet of snow in Montana. Lately he has only been taking care of his cows. That is, "picking up what falls out from their backside". He was fined $25.

Scott Bartley was also back from the sun. Mexico, that is. He had a nice vacation at the Villa Kushnir. He was checking out the local architecture (so he could right the trip off, no doubt) and was very impressed by the cinder block houses and the chicklet kids. He was charged $20 and wanted to pay in Peso's, but we couldn't get the exchange right, so US bucks were taken. Scott Bartley

Bryan Fikes was then asked to stand and reveal all. Since we last spoke to Bryan, he sold a car and bought another Porsche for his birthday. He then took his girlfriend to Cabo, got the runs, and decided to go to Sonoma Joe's, where he won $1200, which he took to Sho da Kai Casino and won another $800. We think he might be traveling to Reno this week....what does all this adventure cost him? 100 big ones.

Raffle:

It was the luck of the British today as Ken Dansie won both the marble draw (which he was unsuccessful) and the wine drawing both! He promptly gave the wine to his fellow visiting Rotarian visiting us from England.

Program:

Roy Hurd, the Chairman of Empire College, was our speaker. He ran us through a timeline of inventions of past and present. They have evolved tremendously and help all of us work better, but people need training on them.

Empire's sission statement is focused on these ideas:
Market Driven
Student Centered
Employer Based

The school was founded in the late 1950s by Henry Trione and has been downtown, in the HPR building, and now in the state-of-the-art facility on Cleveland Avenue. They have programs in Accounting, Office Sciences, Legal Office Administration, Hospitality and Tourism, Medical, and Information Technology, as well as the Empire School of Law.

They have a very high placement rate in the community as they teach the students skills that our local employers are actually looking for.

*Sometimes the best laid plans just...well, you know $%$# happens.

Dale Sipe Dale Sipe did his best by showing up, ready to provide us with a set of excellent photographs as he always does. Apparently his camera just decided that it was done being reliable and therefore no photographs were usable. SO! That's what we have archives for. Personally, I think Dale just wanted to purchase another new camera, and couldn't begin to figure out how he was going to to tell Teddy. Teddy - Dale needs a new camera J -Ed
