Rotary Moment:
Louie also signed up for this, but Paul Schwartz stepped up and
we had a moment of silence for the Space Shuttle astronauts lost over the
weekend.
Visiting Rotarians:
 |
Dorsey Goolsby introduced two visitors: Gary Vice and
Preston Smith. |
Guests:
Neil Silverman introduced our guest speaker, Wes Hardy
Announcements:
President Mike then asked if we are having the ladies attend the
meeting on Monday the 11th for Valentines Day.
Susan Nowacki and Paula Wrenn both knew nothing about
this. So bring your spouse or significant other if you so desire. The
Inner Wheel Club has already put the date on their calendar and the
speaker will be a Dog Psychologist...
 |
Past President Brian Herndon then asked if he
should bring his dog, Beaver? (Brian is quick to remind us
that he actually has 3. Not goin' there.- Ed J)
He also tells us the Debunking Party for Pres. Moore will be
July 13th. |
| Neil Silverman was the official photographer
for our 20th Annual Crab feed and he put two books together with
photos. Great Job Neil
. and Susan! |
 |
John Meislahn then gave us a treasurer's report on the Crab
Feed. Monies are still coming in for tickets and auction items. The Net
total we raised is currently $100 higher then last year: $80,404.
 |
This made Chris Parr a happy camper! Expenses
are still being tabulated as well. A hearty thanks to the Crab Feed
committee this year. |
| Bryan Fikes was in charge of the clean-up for
the Crab Feed and was a little upset he didn't have more people
helping him. Especially when they committed to the clean-up! He asks
they make a donation to the fund for their absence. |
 |
(Having been a member of a number of clean-up teams for past crab
feeds, I can attest to the fact that it is a big job. Many of our members
do more than their share to make our crab feed a success. Unfortunately
these days we have even fewer members to complete a bigger job. As our
event has grown exponentially in the last few years, I think that we
should either pay 10 strong young Eagle Scouts $10/hr for about 1 hour to
be the main clean-up crew, or find a similar source of inexpensive, but
willing manpower. -Ed J)
Recognition:
 |
Jeff Ray was asked to stand up because his
face looked a little sun burned. He told us he went to Kirkwood this
past weekend to check up on some fellow Rotarians that might be
skiing there - Chris Roselle, Jim Hinton, Bill Dodson and Ken
Prouty. |
 |
Bill's new nickname is "Hully Gully" and Jim was the host of
the group. Jeff asked if the Pres will be fining these rogue Rotarians,
who responded by asking everyone for $5.
| John Withers was asked if he had a grandson by
the name of Joe Withers. Apparently he ran in the Resolution Run
recently and got 5th overall. He was competing against men of all
ages and Joe is a student at Cardinal Newman. Pres Mike asked
John how proud he was of his grandson? John replied - $20 |
 |
 |
Maybe it was the coffee? The meeting that day? Or
maybe it was that Bob Marigo is just proud to be a Republican
with Dub Ya at the helm. No matter Bob is just a happy guy these
days! |
 |
Ray Schofield has been quiet this year and he
says he hasn't done anything in the last 7 months. Pres Mike
once again says our members have the "Dale Sipe
Syndrome" on withholding information. Christmas sales were down
a bit, but Ray will still go to NY for the National Toy Fair
convention next week. $25 fine to the toy master. |
 |
 |
Tony Stark has also been quiet this year. He
has no trips planned other than going to Rotary. Pres Mike
asked if Tony would like to tell us something humorous about Chuck.
Tony replied that his son is often late and has been that way for
some time. Chuck asked his Dad who he will get to drive him next
week for that slam. Janet said she would. $25 for showing up. |
 |
| Nice to have Ralph Lasa back with us, and it
looks like he is back to his old self....and what is that? |
 |
 |
Susan Nowacki has changed companies. She now
works for Cal Bay Mortgage and is also going to Cancun in two weeks.
In another confusing matter, it seems her weekend husband is now
more of a weekday husband and he uses his gas-powered lawn machines
to disturb Pres Mike's Sunday slumber. She ended up paying around
$30 for 31.5 years of marriage. |
Dorsey Goolsby was called upon to tell us a little about
himself. It appears he has a son in med school, a son in Texas, and a
daughter still at home. He was asked if he was happy and Dorsey replied he
was panic stricken. We are not sure if our group panics him or the
children. He did have a drive to Texas with his son in the near past and
celebrated 34 years of marriage on February 1st. His fine was $35.
| Paula Wrenn has a new home in Cloverdale! And
one for sale in Santa Rosa. She was also in a panic today with no
speaker.
Neil Silverman came through for us all though. She paid a
$30 transfer tax for moving. |
 |
Bill Fisher told us about a special tribute the Press Democrat
had on their web page for the "founder" of our club, Leland
Geisenhofer. Lee recently passed away. He was a Rotarian that was
respected countywide.
Raffle:
 |
Lucky John Meislahn Picked the Black
Marble!!!!! The Pot is reported at $400! He will most likely spend
all the money at once. |
Ken Prouty won a bottle of wine that we didn't have. We think
Ginny has it in the trunk of her car.
Program:
| Neil Silverman re-introduced our guest speaker,
Wes Hardy, from Executive Fitness. Wes explained the Super
Slow Exercise method used at his facility in Santa Rosa. His clients
work out with him 1-2 times a week for 20 minutes at a time. The key
is not a certain amount of reps but one long set of weight lifting
over a period of time creating a "momentary muscular
failure". This stimulates the muscles to grow and reduces the
fat. |
 |
Developed in 1982 by the University of Florida, this method of
training's goal is the prevention of osteoporosis. Combined with a good
diet, the Super Slow Exercise method can also reduce the risk of heart
disease and high blood pressure. Executive Fitness is located at 2455
Bennett Valley Road, Suite A102. And the phone number is 535-0133.
