The meeting was called to order by President Brian at 12:30 PM |
The Pledge was given by Noel Buehler who implored the Supreme Being for the continued employment of Barry Bonds as a San Francisco Giant and other less lofty goals such as World Peace.
Terry Galazzo introduced 7 Visiting Rotarians. Ray Mattison introduced his wife Ursula and Bill Gittins introduced Ginny Pitts' guest (and new prospective member) Tarina Hall. Bob Zeni introduced a long time guest of our club, Jan Hansen, a counselor from Piner High School.
Sunshine Report:
Gil
Lucas reported that Ginny's husband, Bob Pitts, has had
double by-pass surgery and should be home by the end of the week. Teri
Evans has had a set back as one of the pins recently added to her
ankle has backed off, causing her to have a screw loose. (Louie C
was heard to say that they should have used lock washers -Ed).
Teri hopes to get into a walking cast soon so she can get back to work.

Bob Zeni was then called upon by President Brian to introduce and recognize this Rotary year's first set of Piner High School Scholars. Emily Ash, Sophie Lu, Morgan Marks and Jarod Silva were a very impressive group. It's very refreshing to hear their youthful optimism.

There wasn't much time this week for recognition, but President Brian did manage to squeeze David McDonald in for turning that Red Badge to Blue! $10. |
| Triple A "Transmission Chuck" Baker participated in some self flagellation and made a respectable contribution to his Paul Harris Fellowship for yet additional business recognition and travels. | ![]() |

Carl Vallejos was welcomed back once again (Somebody on that podium was sleeping and "momentarily" forgot that Carl made his official "comeback" some weeks ago -Ed J) |
Raffle:
Past District Governor John Withers (who has won more wine this past year than he will ever drink!) won the opportunity to draw the winning "flat" marble. Unfortunately PDG John drew the wrong marble. Reporter Phil Talamantes was, as he reported, "we were busy bickering at our table and I missed the winner of the wine."
Program:

Paula Wrenn brought us another timely and informative
speaker, John Mason, PHD. He spoke on the subject
of
stress and how it affects us. He described our feelings during and
following the events at the World Trade Center. Most of us spent those
days glued to our TV sets. As our "fight or flight" response
caused us to have a need for all of the information we could get.
Our own club stress expert demonstrated his stress reduction techniques by napping. I personally suffered from double stress from doing my first ever club bulletin and then, when I went to the Los Robles parking lot, I couldn't remember where I parked my car. (those who know him well realize that this is why Past President Bill Fisher never drives to our meetings, he just walks -Ed J)
OF NOTE:
Rotarians and anyone interested is invited to attend John Mason's local book signings. There you can learn more about why, even before September 11, we were already more stressed than ever before in human history.
Upcoming book signing dates for his "Guide to Stress Reduction" are:
Barnes and Noble, 4th Street in Santa Rosa, Thursday, Nov. 8 at 7:30 PM
Northlight Books, East Cotati Ave. (next to Oliver's) Wednesday, Nov.

at 7:00 PM
Your Reporter: Phil Talamantes (and yes, lets have a standing
ovation for Phil, who said yes to "Service above Self"!)
