INTERIM KING BOB'S APRIL "REIGN"

The meeting of Santa Rosa West Rotary was promptly called to order by none other than Bob Marigo past president 1990-91 (thanks Paul Schwartz)

The pledge was led by CAR-O-LINE (Caroline Fox) not Carolyn. The Rotary moment was eloquently substituted by Ken Kushnir (Anne we missed you!)

VISITING ROTARIANS AND GUESTS

Visiting Rotarians were announced by Carl Vallejos: 5 from downtown including George Theobauld who has 48 years perfect attendance. Two Rotarians from the Sebastopol club and the furthest away: Leigh Cassidy from Cornwall, Ontario, Canada.

Rotarians with guests included Dan Wylie with his guest from Broadlink...Mike Farley, IT manager and Bob Harris with his Guest Doug Shureen.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Bob Marigo honored the loss of Louie Capuano's sister who died in a car accident with a quiet moment of contemplation. We all share our sincere wishes of compassion and comfort for Louie and his family.

Bill Fisher announced the upcoming Conference May 4th and 5th as well as the golf tournament at SRGCC. Applications for everything is in the district governors publication the "Inner Wheel". Ken Dansie requested assistance for the Ridgeway HS scholarship interviews on May 3rd from 8-10am. Please call him with your interest.

John Palmer and SOS is looking for volunteers to deliver flowers for Mother's Day on May 12th and 13th. Give John a call if you can help.

Past President Bob Marigo presented the SRW Rotary flag to our guest from Canada. Then...Bob "Boo Bob" Marigo went to the recognition part of the meeting:

RECOGNITION

Roger Olson was asked about his merger with Curry Discounts. Roger stated he was still in the Broom, Mop and Bucket sales, and could now sell staples and office supplies as well as brooms, mops and buckets. $25.00.

To honor President Bob, Roger Olson slept while he was recognized for $25.

DG Mike Merrill (perennial bleeding heart) passed on $20.00 to Von Von der Mehden for Mike's 58th birthday TODAY. And then...Chuck Baker got hit for $5.00 for knowing the CORRECT answer to Bob's Question. Dale Sipe paid $5.00 for a Palomino he already paid for and doing a good job in Rotary....go figure..!

Painful memories were once again awakened as Mike Moore was heard quietly sobbing at his table over the unforgiven loss of Trigger. (stuffed and mounted.....Roy, how could you!)

Ginny Pitts also got fined $10.00 for a trip to Israel TWO years ago. (time sort of stands still for you when you're having fun, doesn't it Bob). And, last but not least, Paul Schwartz paid $5.00 for slamming prez Bob.

RAFFLE

The Elusive RED marble escaped the magical fingers of John Hathaway. However, Duncan gave the $25.00 2nd place ticket to SOS. Respectfully (Ha!) submitted by Ron Street (respect?????.......fat chance!)

PROGRAM

Tom Laengle introduced the District 5130 Speech/Video contestants.

Our meeting was given over to Tom Laengle to introduce the students from Piner and El Molino High Schools competing for over $12,000 of scholarships. The speech-audio contest theme was "World Understanding and Peace...How to achieve it". A well presented program by the students with interesting insight into mankind. Basically the students reiterated a similar theme. Communication and helpfulness towards each other, goes a long way to eliminating hostility and aggressiveness.

The Speech/Video contest judges (l to r) Tom Boylan, contest coordinator, Karen Pederson, Sr. Acct Exec and Bo Rafferty both of the Amaturo Radio Group, and Ed Beebout, news anchor for TV 50 compiled the scores of the contest competitors.

Bill Gittins then came to the podium and presented our slate of officers for the upcoming years as the judges for the speech contest deliberated.
