Music therapy is a process wherein a board certified music therapist uses musical experiences and the relationships that develop through them as a dynamic force for creating developmental and educational progress including physical, cognitive, psychological, emotional and or behavioral outcomes. The overall aim of music therapy treatment is to actively engage individuals in their own growth, development and behavioral change and for them to transfer music and nonmusical skills to other aspects of their life.

She began the program with "Snap your fingers"…then gave us a rendition of "I get by with a little help from my friends". She related music to a touchstone. She gave us a list of songs to identify how our day had been so far: "Workin’ on the Chain Gang".  Then asked us to use the song titles to answer how is your significant Other?: "Doin’What Comes Naturally". Then, how was last Christmas?: "Boom, Boom It’s Great to Be Crazy." She then showed slides of children and adults who have benefited from music therapy. For those with a further interest in music therapy Cleste can be reached at The Music Works, 414 S Street, Sacramento Ca 95814 (916) 441-7210.
