PREY LEWD!
A NOUN SMINTZHistory again repeated itself. Immediate Past President Jim Valinoti could not let go gracefully and spent a large portion of the hour hanging on the new microphone albeit for a good cause. He received his Past President's Pin, a Rotary International Pin.
Roger Olson got an early start by giving a flighty pitch for the annual Pacific Coast Air Museum Gala on Aug. 22 - 23. Despite the absence of a prepared script, he winged it pretty well. Our Loss Their GainFYI, the following Members have resigned or transfered from our club to clubs less illustrious: Ed Burr resigned, Valerie Mazzoni transfered to the Calistoga club, Curtis Reinhart is now a big fish in the Steamboat Springs Colorado Rotary Club and Bo Simons is now a member of the Healsburg group. |
President Richard called upon Bill Fisher (right), our club's
first president, to compare the past with the present. This was the first of a continuing
series in the "Rotary Redux" presentations where past presidents are called upon
to share their thoughts about Rotary and their involvement, past, present and future.
Please note the following corrections to last meeting's Bulletin: the stunning writting of the last Bulletin was brought to you by none other than Ken Dansie and not David Bjorklund. The name of Ginny Pitt's business for which a specatcular open house was recently had is actually Pacific Trench Safety and not "Northern Trench Safety."
Yes, dear reader, the tradition of "recognition" endures to this administration. Ken Kushner claimed, "the Board made me do it." Others made no excuse and seemed to delight in the process.
Our new President starts off with apparent kinder, gentler approach. Ray Mattison, who because of his recent recognition by the American Society of Appraisers took some time to bask in the clear waters of the Pacific surrounding our fiftieth state, was assessed a $25 snorkeling fee.
Sally Kennedy was hit for a measly $10 for having her picture taken with old " I can't hear you" Ronnie. Seems that circumstance is recycled recognition, but hey, whose counting.
Phil Talamantes (right) escaped altogether, after having exchanged
nuptial vows, (something with which this contributing reporter has oh-too-vast
experience). Seems Phil was bird-dogged by fellow club members, inter alia Patsy
Barnes, which made it difficult to fully experience the honeymoon phenomenon in
Hawaii. I suggested Rodney's Shovel Emporium, in beautiful downtown McLains, Arkansas, as
a fantasy destination, but will anybody listen... Noooo!! There the blissful couple could
have spent four days and three nights sifting through limestone rubble for pre-cretaceous
bi-valve brachiopods. Oh well, maybe for their 10th anniversary. I had one of those once.
Proposed By-Law Changes Read them. Ask questions. Remember, your vote will count even if you have no idea what you are voting for.
The Bulletin is in need of 4-6 writers who are willing to put pen to paper (figuratively speaking) once every couple of months or so to make The Bulletin a reality (or as close to it as it will ever get). YOU are the star hack we have been waiting for! Show up your neighbors, embarrass your friends, impress those of power and importance with your wit and enthusiasm! Call Now! Thanks to: Jeff Ray and/or Dale Sipe for set up and take down; Ellie Lowry for greeting visiting Rotarians; Ginny Pitts for selling raffle tickets; Dennis Crandall for leading us in the pledge; Harry Rubins for our Rotary Moment; and to Patrick Sizemore for this Bulletin.
Next up to bat: Jeff Ray and/or Dale Sipe to set up and take down; Steve Kay to greet visiting Rotarians; Lori Burmeyer to do ticket sales; Bill Gittens will lead us in the pledge; Bill Dodson will give us an invocation; and Ray Mattison will write the bulletin.
(by Richard Standard) strike that, he forgot the raffle.
RAFPHULA "furinor" named Dilly, strode to the tilley and walked away silly. PROE GRAHAM(Again by President Richard ) "The Man Who Planted Trees" President Richard presented a very poignant movie which generally spoke to the position that one person, through vision and ceases determination, can make a truly significant impact on our worlds society. Paul Harris was such an individual, who started with a singular idea, which he continuously nurtured. From the initial club, there developed a network of rotary now expanded to include more than 29,000 chapters in more than 150 countries. Good Movie, good program, good meeting. |
Submitted with a modicum of humility and respect, Patrick Sizemore
