June 7, 1999Nothing Fishy HereThe countdown is minus 2 weeks and counting. Thats right folks, only 2 more meetings with King Richard and his motley crew of henchmen. The Patsy of all Patsies will be taking over July 1st. Aw! Ken Dansie greeted all visiting guys from all over and Mike Moore graciously translated his greetings. Paul Stychno gave an inspiring couple of words from Mother Teresa that are applicable today. ANNOUNCEMENTSGinny Pitts guest, Mari Featherstone, asked on behalf of Leadership Santa Rosa (LSR) for suggestions of candidates for Sonoma County Leadership Hall of Fame. This award is presented by LSR to individuals who rally energy to make our community more vital, just and inclusive. If you know of any worthy candidate, please fax your nominations to LSR at 545-6914. HERE YE HERE YE... Debunking info from Ken
Dansie.
Joe Perez (left) is seeking host families ( 3 or 4 ) to be hosts for our inbound female student from Chile. Call Joe if you or someone you know is able to participate. Does not need to be a Rotarian. Remember to sign up for next year's conference a.s.a.p. as the staterooms are going rapidly. The Conference, dubbed "The Millenium Cruise" will be on May 5-8, 2000, on Princess Cruises Alaska line. Contact Bill Arnone at (707) 528-2882 for more info. Remember the Sonoma County Wine Library's annual fundraiser, Sonoma Odyssey Bayou is on June 12th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Richard's Grove and Saralee's Vineyard. Click on the above link for details. Anne Abrams is working on a special project and would appreciate any photos of Rotary memory moments over the past year. Please contact Anne for more details. Hawaiian Shirt Day a Luau Good TimeAs usual Arnie looked great on his special day, "wear your Hawaiian shirt to club Monday." This has been a time honored tradition that will never be given up. We just have too much darn fun. New Members IntroducedJim Benoit introduced sponsor and new members. Bill Gittins introduced Carolyn Fox and Arnie Carston introduced Robert Perkins. Carolyn and her husband Jim have a business and technical firm and Robert is Pacific Bells area manager. It is always a privilege to bring new members in and we welcome both Carolyn and Robert. Craft Talk: Chris ParrNew member Chris Parr gave her craft talk. Whew! This writer barely got all information down as this woman has enough energy to harness the Geysers! All kidding aside, Chris has accomplished many great feats in her time. She has 2 grown children, 3 grandchildren and is engaged to be married. She loves to hike, dance, read, cycle and just have a good time all around. She was a charter member in the Windsor Rotary Club since 1987. She was also their treasurer. She has been to 4 Rotary International conventions, a GSE leader to the Phillipines and she is going to India in February 2000. She has her own production and events company, Parr Events Presents. And to top this off Chris showed a short video on the Vienna Race which her company put together. We are happy to have you with us, Chris. Welcome!
PROGRAM: One Fish, Two Fish...Marc Matson introduced our guest today, Ethan Rotman, an official with the Dept. of Fish and Game. The Dept. of F&G sponsors a "fish-in" for all school age children. They go to the schools and teach kids how to tie lures, put that sqiggly worm on the hook and good all around rules on fishing. This is all before they even see water. When they go to Lake Ralphine everyone knows courtesy rules and fishing etiquette. What fun! The only thing F&G cannot promise is that you will catch fish.
