Program Update

February 8, 1999

We were dark on February 15, 1999 for Washington/Lincoln's Birthday.

Songs for Your Sweetie!

The pledge was led by Lori Burmeyer.  Our Rotary Moment was given by Noel Buehler, who came up with variety of moments none of which I understood but they sounded good! The introduction of visiting Rotarians was peformed admirably by Ron "Mr. Ticket" Allen;

Announcements

Mike Merrill told us about the PETS conference and the disaster that occured to Patsy - a broken hip. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. There were 450 presidents in training + the Pres. of Rotary International in attendance.

Lois Tanner informed the Club of Bob Lucas’ illness and hoped that members would be able to contribute to the fund that has been set up. Members can reach Lois @ 544-1350, or contact Janet Codding or Ginny Pitts.

Mike Moore auctioned off Oil Stop certificates for car washes and 32 point inspections. Members wanted to know if the inspections were male, female or age related.

Bob and Sandy Harris  returned from Thailand early because of the "Asian Flu".

On February 22, 1999, our speaker will be Roger J. Sherron II.  Mr. Sharron got his private pilot's liscence in 1937 and his license is still active.  He worked for Pan Am for 37 years, during which time he flew the D.C.3, Boeing 314 and Boeing 747.  Mr. Sharron, now in his 90s, still flies and even has a couple of planes at the Santa Rosa Airport.

The Sebastopol Club is doing a "Fun Train" to Reno March 2-4. Any member of our club is invited to join them, but reservations need to be made by the end of this week.

Challenged Skiers, remember, this year's Ski Challenge will be on the weekend of March 5, 1999. The particulars will be announced as soon as they are known. But, as this trip generally fills up very quickly, advanced registration is advisable.

The Santa Rosa-Kagoshima Student Exchange Program is accepting applications for students to travel to Japan for 4 weeks over the Summer of 1999.   The trip is subsidized by the Santa Rosa Sunrise Group as well as Rotary Groups from Hiroshima and Kagoshima Group, Friends of Kagoshima and Santa Rosa Businesses. The cost for each student is only $1,900.00. Applications must be in by April 16, 1999.   Contact Mary Haller at 538-0950 or Fern Harger at 539-8030 for more details.

Craft Talk: Noel Buehler

Noel Buelher gave a great craft talk in a Wisconsin accent and now, because of the cheese, is the superintendant of Oak Grove School District responsible for 600 kids.

Rafflings

Ginny Pitts failed on the Marbles much to the delight of the crowd.

Bob Miller won the $20.

PROGRAM: SRHS Choral Music Group

The club was entertained and serenaded by the SRHS Choral Music Group who would be happy to provide your loved one with a singing telegram for just $50. Call 547-9000 to order.
