Ma Stokeld will put on their own version of Fawlty Towers. This event is for new members, their spouses or significants, sponsors of new members, directors, and club members. The good news is that the price is only $25.00 for the dinner and entertainment. The bad news is that seating is limited to 45 people. Payment in advance (check payable to The Old Vic and given to Paul Schwartz or John Ramzy) is required, and reservations are limited to the first 45 paid. Paul Schwartz got up and read the names for all 14 new members we have had in the last year. |
Bell Ringing: Chris Rosell announced that our annual Salvation Army bell ringing is scheduled on Sunday, December 7, from 10:00 to 8:00 pm at Coddingtown. A sign-up sheet is circulating.
Anne Abrams got up and told us that she had been asked by Mary Farha to coordinate the Service Above Self Award. This award is given every year to a community member whose selfless devotion to serving the community can serve as an inspiration to us all. Anne urged members to submit a nomination to her.
John Palmer announced the Spirit of Christmas Craft Faire coming up at the Fairgrounds. This fun event features music and crafts and benefits our Save Our Students fund.
Jim Valinoti recognized Bob Reinking, barely. It's been a while , Bob. Bob Lucas got up and plugged his gigs every Sunday at the Flamingo Hotel for a $50 fine. Gary Dugger opined that business is good, that there had recently been a marriage in his family and that he had been to Panama City. Robin Marrs brought us an East Honolulu Rotary banner, form his recent trip to Oahu and Kauai. Ray Scofield, Red Badger and toy retailer, told us all not to look for Beanie Babies this Christmas and that Barbie was being updated to be a nineties kind of gal which meant reducing some of her attributes.
Crab Feed Update
|
Dennis Crandall emphasized that this Crab Feed is right around the corner. On January 17, 1998, it is steaming along right behind Thanksgiving, later this week, and, whhooosh, then it's Christmas, and, bam, the Crab Feed. Every Club Member is needed to make this, our major fund raiser, happen and happen in a big way. Give a donation for the auction or solicit some. Sell tickets. Sell or buy a corporate table. The Crab Feed is up on our Web Site. |
Mike Merrill New District Governor Designate |
|
| Bob Marigo introduced current District Governor Larry
Bello. Larry gave us all a little history lesson, going back over the
thirty-two and a half years of Santa Rosa West Rotary's illustrious past. During
those three decades and then some, our club has produced a number of District Governors,
and now we are about to do so again. Mike Merrill is the District
Governor Designate for 1999-2000. Mike assumed the podium and promised to make our
club proud as we entered the new millennium. At Right: District Governor Larry Bello congratulates Mike Merrill and his wife Maureen. |
|
AnnieMarc Matson introduced Kathleen York, director of the Santa Rosa Players production of Annie. You can bet your bottom dollar that the cast of Annie gave a rousing performance of the hits from this show, including "Hard Knock Life." "Maybe," and "Tomorrow." The beautiful and talented young ladies were led by Glenniss Davies as Annie. |
