Current Bylaws Constitution
1. This language replaces the current Article VII Section 3
(Nominating Committee)
This committee shall be selected and chaired by the most
immediate past club president who is still an active member. The Nominating Committee
shall be composed of the current Secretary, two (2) members of the Board of Directors, and
the two (2) most recent Past Presidents of the club that are still active members in good
standing. No member of the nominating committee may be a candidate for President of the
Club. The nominating committee shall propose a slate of qualified candidates, for election
to the office of president.
2. This language replaces Article I Section 1 (Nomination and
Election)
At a regularly scheduled meeting, 4 weeks prior to the first
regularly scheduled meeting in November, the presiding officer shall ask the Nominating
Committee Chair for nominations from club members and the Nominating Committee, for the
office of President Elect. At this time the Nominating Committee Chair should also
distribute the qualifications and duties of a club president as prescribed in the Rotary
International Manual of Procedure. Nominations will be accepted for approval up to two
weeks before the first regularly scheduled meeting in November. After reviewing the
proposed candidates the Nominating Committee shall make its report to the club, at the
first regularly held meeting in November. The nominating committees report will then
be mailed to each club member in good standing and will include the following:
A list of the candidates and their qualifications for President.
The qualifications and the duties of a club president, as prescribed in
the Rotary International Manual of Procedure.
A voting ballot containing the slate of approved candidates.
The sealed voting ballot is to be returned by mail, or delivered in
person, to the club secretary any time prior to the close of the day on the date of the
first regularly scheduled meeting in December. The return date of said ballot would be
published in each of three (3) of the clubs weekly bulletins, commencing three weeks
prior to the ballot return date. The Nominating committee will receive, from the Club
Secretary, all sealed ballots received by the end of the day on which the ballots
are due. There will be no verbal proxies. After the Nominating Committee has tallied the
ballots, they will be returned to the Club Secretary and retained by him/her for the
period of one year. The Nominating Committee Chair shall announce the results of the
balloting and the proposed slate of directors and officers to serve with the newly elected
president elect at the second regularly scheduled meeting in December. One week later the
club will vote (viva voce) on the complete slate of directors and officers to serve with
the newly elected president elect.
3. This language replaces Article 1 Section 2 (Terms of Office)
Each officer that will serve in the newly elected
presidents year shall be elected for a term of one year, except the president-elect
who shall serve one year as president-elect and then automatically succeed to the office
of president the next year without further nomination or election. Each director elected
to serve with the newly elected president elect shall serve for a term of two years.
4. This language replaces Article 1 Section 3 (Board of
Directors)
The president, officers and directors elected with the president, directors
whose terms on the board continue, and the immediate past president shall constitute the
board of directors. The offices of secretary and treasurer are separate offices to be
filled by two separate members.
This language replaces Article IV Section 1 (Annual Meeting)
At the annual meeting of this club to be held on the first
Monday in December the Nominating Committee Chair shall announce the name of the newly
elected president elect and the proposed slate of directors and officers to serve with the
newly elected president elect.
This language replaces Article V Section 1 (Admission Fee)
The admission fee shall be $50 to be paid before the applicant
can qualify as a member. In addition, each member shall pay an initiation fee of $100
immediately upon induction into the club. The club shall contribute said initiation fee to
the Rotary Foundation and, at the election of the new member, it may be applied in the
name of the new member to commence a Paul Harris Sustaining Membership.
This language replaces Article V Section 2 (Dues and Fines)
The annual membership dues are One Hundred Sixty Five Dollars
($165.00) and are due and payable @ $82.50 by 7/1 of each year and the second $82.50 by
1/1. Unless there has been specific board approval for other than this, dues not paid
within 90 days of each due date shall result in membership termination. Included within
the dues is the subscription cost for The Rotarian. In addition, cumulative annual
fines of fifty ($50) shall be assessed upon each member by the president during the Rotary
year.
This language replaces Article VI (Method of voting)
This business of this club shall be transacted by voice vote
(viva voce) except the election of the president, which shall be by ballot (see Article 1
Section 1 Nomination and Election) or amendments to the by-laws (see Amendments Article
X1V).
This language replaces Article XIV (Amendments)
These by-laws may be amended by a sealed ballot vote consisting of two thirds of the
ballots returned on or before the voting date. Notice of such proposed amendment(s) along
with a voting ballot shall be mailed to each member at least ten days prior to the voting
date, and said voting date shall be announced 10 days prior to the mailing of said
ballots. No amendment or addition to these by-laws can be made which is not in harmony
with the club constitution and with the constitution and by-laws of Rotary International.
