Gets De-Bunked

Setting

On the balmy evening of Saturday, June 28, President Bill Gittins got royal send-off, befitting the power and majesty of his term of office. Wikiup Swim and Tennis Club furnished a convivial setting as about eighty Santa Rosa West Rotarians and their significant others gathered, to salute Bill, not to bury him. Those responsible for the festivities included co-chairs, Pat Sizemore and Chris Rosell, writers and performers Jim Hinton, Bob Marigo, Valerie Ettinger, and Janet Codding, and roustabouts and barkeeps, John Ramzy and Bo Simons.

Music

Pat Sizemore and former SR West member, Jeff Blakeslee, provided music. Hunched over his cherry-red Gibson SG, Ex-President Pat kicked off a memorable set with with the opening licks of the Chuck Berry classic, "Memphis." One of his later songs, "All of my Ex-es live in Texas," seemed to carry more personal conviction. A number of Rotarians got up and shook booty and some even danced.

Skit

A solemn and decorous skit featuring club goofball Bob Marigo and our six-foot blonde vision, Janet Codding, dealt with the hazards of sexual harrasment in the workplace. The skit harmonized perfectly with the tone of edification and moral uplift which has characterized Bill's reign.

Gifts

Throughout his year as President, Bill has given us a lot, as he is constantly reminding us. Well, at the debunking, President Bill got as good as he gave. His send-off gifts included a real Presidential gavel and wall plaque, a surreal Presidential gavel and wall plaque from Speedy Trophy (motto: "When speed and sleaze are important...") and a computer printer.
