Program:

The speaker was Ron Wolf of Channel 50. Ron was born in Sommerset, Massachusetts and attended Emerson College.

His first job was in Great Falls, Montana as a sports director. His second job was in Macon, Georgia building a news department. At 23 years old, he played the audio tape of Porky Pig's "That's All Folks" over the News anchor person. He went on to Bangor, Maine for his third job where he anchored the news and ran the operation. He continued his profession by going to Waco, Texas where he spent a year producing, then went to Fresno, California to be an assistant producer for an NBC news affiliate. He stayed for 6 years, but with the chaos in Fresno, including mostly bad news and crime, he came to Santa Rosa in 1996.

He gave us some history on the station and described the success the station is now having with its local focus. Their coverage of the election results received great Nielsen Ratings. There will be a recurring local winery segment on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. Channel 50's goal is to be the CNN of the North Bay!

Assembly:

The meeting ended with a short club assembly. The discussion centered on ideas for the promotion of the Crab Feed which is scheduled for February 1st. This is an important, fun event. Involvement of all club members is requested and needed. Specifically, we need raffle prizes, and ticket sales. Please contact Ty Pforsich or Mark Decker if you have questions or ideas.
